This motorized ball valve offers the control of a solenoid valve without the restrictions of flow or large constant power requirements. Unlike the quick response of a solenoid valve, the slower 4-5 seconds to open and close eliminates water hammer. The 2-wire XR22 unit is available in a 9 to 24 AC / DC or 110-230 AC option. The internal capacitor powers the motor to turn the ball 90 degrees back to its normal position when power is removed. This actuator requires a minimum energized cycle of at least 60 seconds to ensure the internal capacitor is fully charged and has enough power to close the valve completely. Cycle times shorter than 60 seconds may result in partial or incomplete closures. It will utilize power while moving to the open position all the while charging an internal capacitor. A negligible amount of power is required to maintain capacitor charge. When power is removed or in the event of a power failure the valve will return itself to the closed position.
This particular model has a brass body, PTFE ball seat and Viton/FKM seal. This configuration makes it compatible with a wide array of media types from water to weak acids and slightly corrosive chemicals. The ball is driven by metal gears to insure reliability. A position indicator is located on the top of the valve so that you can be sure of the valve's open or closed position. It can be connected directly by means of the 20” lead wires attached to the actuator housing. The actuator housing is sealed and rated IP67 or a NEMA 4 equivalent. The actuator is weather resistant, however use caution when installing it outdoors. Due to the nature of the product it may be damaged in cases of extreme weather.
The XR22 actuator can be controlled in many different ways including wired directly to the power source, with an inline switch or with a smart home feature to remotely control it.
